US Senior Deputy Special Representative David Pearce Friday said the United States and Pakistan have made real progress on issues critical to the interests of both the nations. The visiting top US diplomat, according to a US Embassy statement, held meetings in Islamabad Friday with Pakistani officials to continue discussions regarding how the United States and Pakistan can work together to identify our shared interests and act on them jointly.

Ambassador Pearce's visit builds on the many recent US-Pakistan bilateral engagements, such as the recent meetings between Secretary Clinton and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Washington and Brussels, the Economics and Finance Working Group, the Defense Consultative Group and the Energy Working Group.

"I am delighted to be in Pakistan," Pearce said. "Over the last few months there have been a number of significant high-level US-Pakistan bilateral engagements. We have made real progress on issues critical to the interests of both the nations. I am meeting with officials in Islamabad to continue this process. I expect the United States and Pakistan will continue these engagements in the weeks and months ahead," he added.
